该剧讲述了热血少年萧炎的成长史，在萧炎完成与纳兰嫣然的三年之约后，萧家却突逢云岚宗的袭击，父亲萧战亦被对方掳走。为拯救父亲，重振萧家荣光，萧炎在师父药尘的建议下回到迦南学院，欲取得学院天焚炼气塔下的异火陨落心炎，提升实力再战云岚宗。在这里，萧炎不仅与青梅竹马萧薰儿重逢，也与其他小伙伴结识相伴，面对斗气大陆的重重挑战与危机，并肩迎难而上。

修心养性的楚留香（苗侨伟），与三位红粉知己避居世外。但楚留香静极思动，又刚值好友左轻侯生辰，遂藉此再度重出俗世，与三美到左家祝贺.到左家后，发生怪事连篇，原来左家独女恋上世仇薛家之子薛斌，两人竟诈死以调解两家的宿怨。此事被楚留香查悉，为成其好事，就暗中给多他们帮助。可惜此事恰巧给桑小靖(翁美玲)知悉，并无意间泄露给左轻侯知道，惹得左轻侯错手误杀女儿，薛斌殉情自尽。而楚留香亦因插手此事，涉嫌盗取薛家宝剑，及被江湖中人误会他杀死武林名人，几遭杀身之祸。及后，楚留香再遇好友中原一点红(惠天赐)，几悉一点红的妻子被一个以蝙蝠公子为首的神秘组织所杀，以期中原一点重出江湖为之效命。楚留香有见及此，为己为人，决定追查真相。其实蝙蝠公子乃原随云(任达华)的化身。他本有一段耐人寻味的身世，他之所以组织蝙蝠宫，亦有原委。最后，当楚留香洞悉一切后，与原随云唯有作一场生死决斗。

在东胜神州傲来国的花果山上，有一块灵石饱受日精月华，最终幻化成一只机敏过人的神猴（费振翔饰）。它占山为王，自命齐天大圣，访仙山，结妖友，得名悟空，并习得一身绝世本领。随后闯龙宫，入阴曹，更上演大闹天宫的好戏。悟空被如来佛祖压在五指山下，历经五百年的风雨，终于得西天取经的高僧唐三藏（陈司翰饰）相助重获自由。受观世音菩萨（陈冲饰）之命，悟空拜唐僧为师，之后又收服了小白龙（王帅饰）、猪八戒（谢宁饰）、沙和尚（牟凤斌饰）。师徒一行不辞辛苦，一路上更遭遇无数妖魔鬼怪与艰难险阻……本片根据中国古典四大名著之一《西游记》改编。
